 Townsville

ith a Strand (beachfront esplanade) that will keep the family occupied for hours and a stones throw from Magnetic Island, Townsville is an ideal stop for the family.

Set with a back drop of rugged Castle Hill and cradled by Cleveland Bay and the Strand beach front recreation area with Magnetic Island a stones throw across the bay, Townsville is a picturesque city with a lot to offer.

It has a great variety of attractions both natural and man made and  there are lots of "city things". Pubs, clubs, restaurants, recreational areas, parks & gardens.

With daily flights from all major cities to its well equipped regional airport.

Townsville is approx 3½ hours drive south of Cairns and about the same distance north of Mackay.

Being Queensland's largest regional city with a population of 135,000, it is host to some of Australia's finest defence forces and an abundance of man made and natural attractions to satisfy the curious and adventurous.

Housed in the Great Barrier Reef Wonderland complex are the Reef HQ underwater marine observatory, the huge 18 metre Omnimax theatre and the North Queensland Museum.

From Townsville you may discover the reef and old ship wrecks by travelling with one of the many reef tour operators. Enjoy scuba diving or snorkelling, or perhaps view the marine life from the comfort of a glass bottom boat.
